How we behave when life seems to crumble in our hands and nothing remains? Renowned architect Halvard Solness wishes to grandly conclude his career and build something he has dreamed of his entire life - the tallest tower in the city. However, time and family have changed, and nothing now favors him. Everyone yearns for life. The young want to be better than the old. And the old... do not want to be simply "old." A generational conflict where there is still hope and grace. The play is inspired by Henrik Ibsen's "The Master Builder" (1892). "Master Solness" premiered at the Estonian Drama Theatre on October 22, 2022, directed by Mehis Pihla, with Tõnu Oja in the title role.
Mehis Pihla (1988) is a playwright and director. He has written plays, film scripts, stand-up comedy texts, and sketch comedies. Pihla has directed in several Estonian theaters. In 2020, he was nominated for Director of the Year for his production of "A Doll's House, Part 2."
